Nick I looked into using a brewpub mash/kettle as a wash still-- technically it's easy to convert the useage but TTB licensing was a big obstacle. But if you just want to buy a used kettle and convert it to a still it would be quite easy. Just make sure the manway is gasketed and closed properly to avoid leaks and convert the steam vent to a condensing column. And add an appropriate pressure and vacuum relief valve on top. What's the TTB like in this situation?
grehorst
What's the TTB like in this situation? I can't imagine the TTB caring at all. They want to know production capacity they don't care about how a still is made - thats more an issue for your local inspectors.
