Tasting Room POS systems

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Well we are searching for a POS system for our tasting room, there so darn many of them !   and the sales people will tell you it will even take out the garbage just to close a sale !

those of you that have tasting rooms please comment on what you are using and if long term contracts are required, and how the credit card processing is handled.

Thanks  ......Lorenzo

We currently use Square and will need to change for a busier tasting room location.  Square works ok for our volumes currently, but we're on the edge of needing more.

What is Union charging users?

We use Square as well.  Adding additional wireless iPad stations has make it much faster for us.  Way easier than additional hardwired pos stations, and the portability allows us to move them around the bar and tasting room as necessary.

Only negative with Square is that you can’t start a tab with a card.  When it gets busy we hold cards.  Not ideal, but works.

Well, and if you forget to charge.

We have used a system called Toast for a little over a year now and like it a lot.  We pay about $120/month and paid for some of the hardware at the start as well.  Two POS units - both touchscreen with a cash drawer and receipt/ticket printer at each terminal.  Back of the house is pretty good too.  It's a restaurant system but adapts pretty well to what we do, especially on the cocktail side of things...…..

They process the credit cards (it averages 2.9% which is deducted daily) and it deposits the next day.  I don't recall that we have any long term contract - probably because we purchased hardware.

Thanks for pointing out that, have you devised a plan to track those purchases to prevent your losses?
