bnmakr1
Hey, I’m in the process of applying for a loan. I’m having difficulty finding the cost of charred barrel in bulk. What are typical barrel prices? Thanks in advance!

JustAndy
Somewhere between $150 and $400 depending on the type of barrel and the quantity. So say $300. But freight can be a big expense depending on your location and order quantity.
Black Creek
Jason (Sugar Daddy) might be a good source for you. He is in South Florida.
bnmakr1
Thanks for the responses! I’m not close to TN or KY so shipping is going to be astronomical. Would it cheaper to buy fresh off the still 160 proof white dog, source/ship barrels, and dilute it at a warehouse or buy prefill barrels and ship them? captnKB
Kelvin cooperage is a great source for barrels FYI. Id agree with what Just Andy said. The price of barrels can vary at ton depending on size, quantity purchased, types of wood and freight on the barrels. Lots of distilleries go the sourcing route and will contract with a distillery to have them distill the whiskey and barrel it, then ship full barrels to you. Now to say which way is less expensive to get to whiskey many variables that need to be considered that will determine the real cost.
VictorL659
The price appears to be very regional. Neutral oak can be found for as little as $80-100.
