Pour Decisions
I'm playing around with my gin formulas and botanicals. While ordering some sample extracts for my vodka's, I noticed that the suppliers list flavors for gin extracts. I've never thought of using extracts for gin as i thought heat would put it into DSS classification, but after reviewing the BAM I guess it would simply be a compound gin and would require a formula. Anyone using extracts in place of some of their gin botanicals?
SCLabGuy
It is common practice. It can be hard to achieve the flavor density that is typical of a distilled gin, though.
Cosmic.Distiller
Right it would be a bit more like a compound gin. I have yet to taste a gin doing this practice that tastes good, unfortunately.
