Lead Distiller

Whistling Hare Distillery, located in fast growing metro Denver, produces Bourbon, Rye, Gin, Vodka and Rum. We are seeking a full time Lead Distiller. We spent the last five years perfecting our process, building our maturing barrel inventory and planning for significant rebranding and expansion. Notwithstanding our strong foundation, this is a ground floor opportunity as we prepare to move to a new facility. Be part of selecting all new equipment and building out a premier, destination distillery. While the ideal candidate will have brewing, distilling or winery experience, specific experience is not required. Let us know why you want to distill. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Lead Distiller is responsible for all phases of the distilling process (Grain and Material Handling, Mashing, Fermenting, Distilling, CIP, Barreling, Bottling, Packaging and Inventory Management). The ideal candidate should have an aptitude to learn, develop, understand, and follow all safety and quality standards and standard operating procedures (SOP’s) of the distillery.

 

Distillery Operations

·         Operating and monitoring stills

·         Ability to run daily mashes, distilling

·         Quality Control of all production processes

·         Record keeping/administrative duties

·         Cleaning/Sanitization of equipment and work facility

Physical Requirements

·         Frequent bending/stooping/kneeling/reaching/pulling/pushing 

·         Climbing ladders and stairs

·         Heavy lifting (50-70 lbs.) 

Qualifications

·         Can do attitude/self-starter

·         Works successfully with others and independently

·         Must be a multi-tasker, self-starter and organized

·         Willingness and eagerness to learn

·         Good verbal and written communication skills

·         Distilling/brewing experience a plus

·         Strong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills

·         Mechanically inclined

Other Requirements

·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         Must be 21 years of age or older and pass background check

·         No present or past problems with drugs or alcohol

·         We are very flexible so you can plan your schedule but a willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary is desired

Salary and Benefits

This is a fulltime, salaried position. Salary negotiable depending upon distilling and production experience.
