My question is--- is there a need for a new distillery software company that's worth a dam?

Like Whiskey Systems,  5X5, Onbatch, TTB Tamer and all the others.

Currently we use Whiskey Systems but it is getting super pricey for us. I liked it back in the day when it was $350 per month. Since they

got bought out several years ago the prices just keep going up and up. I have looked at other systems but they suck compared to

Whiskey Systems. Do you think the market could bear another system? Something that is simple, manages my distillery and TTB.

We use Quickbooks for all the accounting stuff and I like the separation between the 2 systems.

Please let me know your thoughts.

The key issue is that I would like a system with a "buy once" license.

I would also like a system that can be customized according to my needs.

How many products do you currently make?
Its really not too hard to keep track of exactly what the TTB needs on a monthly basis for production.

The "buy once" would be really great! There is just too much money to be made on companies that don't want to learn the requirements for reporting unfortunately.
I get most clients set up with a well thought out excel file based on their needs and that seems to do the trick. It takes a couple months to get the hang of everything, but then you'll be free from the ever-increasing prices of the distillery softwares.

What's your max price for a one-time purchase system, considering potential difficulties in supporting an unseen system over the long term? If TTB changes their reports within a few years, how do you expect the vendor to adapt without ongoing revenue?

A question I'd be curious about would be what would be the expected life of the software? Because as a SaaS vendor we charge that because we also get charged by the month to give you the service - but at the same time, a single purchase for some long amount of time like 10 years is possible, it'd just be the number of months times the price plus a discount. We could definitely come to that kind of agreement. Just "Forever" is a long time in computer terms.
