Any recommendations on what hose to get for moving mash, in particular, one that can handle high temperature for clearing from the still after distillation? For that matter, any recommendation from where to buy it? Do people like the Goodyear Vintner's hose?

Cheers,

Jeff

Jeff,

Find a local hose supplier they can make a recommendation. Continental makes "purple snake", GY as you already mentioned is a player in foodgrade hose, there is also Novaflex and many others (Pirelli?). You will need someone to cut the hose to length and affix the connections you want on the ends, so find a local suppiler. Get hydraulically swedged ends, not banded or even double banded. I have used KAD Insudtrial Rubber Products, kadhose-dot-com you can probably find someone closer. Try Thomas Register if you get too much junk from a google search.

Cheers!

Jeff,

Where are you located? I've got a group in Richmond, VA that has supplied all kinds of products to us, including the type of hose you are looking for, and are very knowledgable.

I'm in Chicago. My default is just to get some Goodyear Vintner hose from GW Kent or JME Elsworth. I've called a couple of other places but I was really just trying to find something cheaper that could withstand high heat for clearing hot stillage. Why not band the hose yourself? Do you find this doesn't hold up? It seems to me a lot of breweries do this themselves. Having a barb pop loose with 200+ fluid spraying out would probably injure someone (me), so that isn't cool if that is what you think would happen.

Cheers,

Jeff
