Guest Bobcat Hill
Does it make a significant difference to dilute 5 gallons of 5% barley-corn tails into a 40 gallons of 100% corn tails that we're redistilling with our mashes? While I'm hoping there's not a dilution problem, I am not confident about altering the flavor profile by mixing the tails. Thanks so much.
Artisan Still Design
you have the potential to change your flavor profile, if you do this with every run it won't be an issue for consistency.
bluestar
Shouldn't be too much of a problem, most corn whiskey uses some distiller's malt (barley) for mashing anyway (unless 100%), because barley has a relatively soft flavor profile compared to corn. On the other hand, if you were doing the same with rye, even that small amount would make a significant difference in flavor. And the result can't be called 100% corn, of course.
