billowens Posted December 19, 2008 Share Posted December 19, 2008 The Craft of Whiskey Distilling by Bill Owens, American Distilling Institute "A barrel a week is all we ask" A year in the making, The Craft of Whiskey Distilling book is designed for the start-up distiller. The book contains step-by-step instructions on using an artisan still to produce a barrel of whiskey a week. Most important, it has a spreadsheet that will help the reader develop a business plan to build a distillery and to get a distiller's license (DSP). The book also includes an index of websites and recommended reading. It also contains government mandatory labeling rules or CFRs that define some 34 different whiskey recipes. At the end, there's a quiz to prove you really read the book. bill@distilling.com Only available for Purchase online http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/486093? http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/486093?
==================

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

At $45 I'd have bought it today. Then again that's me. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Tom's Foolery Posted December 24, 2008 Share Posted December 24, 2008 I purchased the book and have found it valuable. If you use the book to help design your distillery, or your business plan, then the cost is really not very much. It has more than $110 worth of consulting in it. But if you are looking for a highly-edited table-top book on whiskey, you will be disappointed. This book is seems to be specifically written for the micro-distiller who is in the early phase of planning a whiskey distillery. A narrow audience, but one that should probably buy this book. I also have a copy and found it very useful in keeping it simple and I do subscribe to that line of thinking. I have read it twice and learned a lot. It definetely targets a specific audience, I am in there though. In the paper back it would be great too, I just wouldn't want to cheapen the spot on my shelf,lol. I want to get it signed though Bill, raises the value.. In great spirits, Jester Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Beauport Bob Posted December 24, 2008 Share Posted December 24, 2008 Mine is on order and will be read during our next Nor'easter, Montreal Express, or whichever storm next dumps a foot of snow on us. By the way, to ensure value for you dollar, have the author sign your copy. Every home library should have a volume signed by a 1976 Guggenheim Fellow. When you can, pour yourself a heavy dram and check out his work. "Suburbia" showed me where I was at when 22. Guest Liberty Bar - Seattle Posted December 28, 2008 Share Posted December 28, 2008 By the way, to ensure value for you dollar, have the author sign your copy. A fine point. And, just how does one get a book signed? Am I going to have to travel (not a terrible idea, by the way)? Andrew Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
