Palmetto Coast
This question is for anyone exporting, in general. We are looking at exporting to Canada and were curious about the types of shipping used. Does FOB seem to be the preferred method? Does anyone have experience with any of the other types (FCA, FAS, CFR, CIF, CPT, CIP, DAT, DAP, DDP)? Can you elaborate on which seems to be best for our type of export business and why? Thanks, Todd Weiss Striped Pig Distillery
Palmetto Coast
Another quick question re: Canada.... They say the excise tax is "CAD$11.69/liter of pure alcohol (pure spirits)." Does anyone know what proof Canada figures as pure alcohol? Thanks, Todd
Bcproduct
100% pure for the excise duty which is federal (canada wide) There will also be provincial markup and that will be different for each province. I am familiar with BC which is 168% on top of the federal.
tl5612
FOB. They'll pay you, then arrange a forwarder to collect the booze. You pack it on a pallet and sort out the correct paperwork. Et voila.
Broken Anvil Distilleries
For Ontario, in addition to excise, you'll have to pay 139.7% markup (in addition to excise), a bottle levy of ($0.38) per litre, an environmental fee for packaging ($0.09), after which sales tax (13%) and a bottle fee ($0.20) will be added before retail. There is only the provincial liquor board as a buyer/retailer.
