Redistilling Gin

Can anybody tell me how much product I can expect to get back when redistilling gin? We created our own GNS and ended up with 251lbs of 190.5. We cut it down to 110 proof and are going to macerate our botanicals. So, starting out we would have about 64 gallons. We will probably add some water to that at the time of distillation. I am curious about what the expected yield would be. Obviously we will figure it out when we run it, but I was hoping to have a reference estimate before we start.

If this is your first gin run ever. Don't think you want to waste all that NGS with a dud batch!

Start much smaller on a tiny still. To work out your recipe and your yield will come from that.

It may take you dozens or hundreds of batches to find one you are happy with.

Leftturn,

Have you tried adding it back? I figure the yield has been high enough I have never been real tempted to do so, but when I do whiskey and add heads and tails to the next batch it definitely does double the heads and tails cut (though obviously I get some more in the product). Anyone every tried redistilling the gin run heads and tails?

I am redistilling from NGS .. The heads are mostly the volatiles and cheap vodka taste ... The tails volume I collect is very small but if I am ever tempted to keep anything it is the tails... The Cinnamon seems to come out right at the onset of tails ....
