My local building department, Beacon, NY, is giving me a hard time about storage in wood barrels. I have pointed them to the NY ICC code Chapter 27, 2701.1 where barrels and bottles less than 1.3 gallons are excluded, but they read this as only applying to control rooms.

I am thinking I need a letter from an "expert" to support my F1 rating and excluding barrels and bottles from my MAQ. I am hoping someone knows who would be good to talk to about this issue. They want to be helpful, but only want to rely on NY Codes.
