TyWebb
What are the benefits and drawbacks to using a stainless steel pot? I had initially planned to use a copper pot but life is handing me a stainless one inexpensively. I still plan on using a copper lid, neck, lyne arm and column. Thanks in advanced for input. TetonDistillery
That is what we are doing. Double Gold two years in a row at San Francisco World Spirits Competition, so I would say that it is all positive. http://www.tetondistillery.com/distillery/distillery-equipment/hybrid-pot-still-with-short-copper-column We have two of these 500 gallon pot stills. They are great for expansion when you need a 2nd or 3rd still because they are very cost effective.

Artisan Still Design
copper does its best work in the vapor path. a stainless kettle is fine, as long as you have sufficient copper in your column or wherever the vapor can make contact.
Dehner Distillery
the cheapest thing you could do is go with a stainless column and put in copper dashing rings (cut up copper tubing). more surface area, and 1/4 the cost of copper column easy.
