HedgeBird
I have a retail customer looking to make a purchase (talking 10's of bottles, not 100's) that is requesting that I provide them with a W-9 form. My distillery is incorporated as an LLC. Anyone run into this before?
Towerguy
The W-9 is for Taxpayer ID number. If you refer to your LLC paperwork, there is probably one in there.
OldSpye
There's no reason why a retail purchaser should request Form W-9 unless they're a business. If that's the case, you can download the form here.
TetonDistillery
I would say no thanks. There is no need for you to provide a W-9 for such a small transaction. The IRS was going to require filings for transactions as small as $500. But because of the insane amount of paperwork that would have created, and there was massive resistance from businesses, they correctly cancelled that idea.
