Rattlesnakedistillers
Hello everyone, Looking for advice on how to prepare the bottles for filling? Chemical clean? Temp clean? Anything will be helpful Sean

Salishseaorganicliqueurs
Compressed air works wonders. Just make sure you have a good filter.
Artisan Still Design
as long as you trust your supplier, air is easiest. pull a few bottles and double check before filling, buying by the pallet is helpful.
jessicajlemmon
I've seen places rinse them with whatever product will be going in them. Pretty sure they just did that right out of the shipping box.

PeteB
I rinse the bottles with the spirit I am bottling. run a small amount into the bottle and swirl it around then tip into another container. When run is finished I tip rinsings back into tank so it can settle before doing the next bottling. When i get time I am going to build an air flushing attachment instead of rinsing. I suspect it won't be quite as thorough but it should be quicker Don't rinse bottles with water just before filling. There will be enough water left in the bottle to reduce the proof well below regulation limit.
daveflintstone
I use sterilized air. However, rinsing with purified water is certainly possible without concern for lowering proof. Just adjust your proof up a tiny bit to accommodate. I know a large producer that does this.
NEPA-still-chillin
Air, water, and spirit works great. But we have this bottle that is custom blown for us and its not every bottle but a decent percentage will form this white film on the inside once the spirit is in the bottle for awhile. Cannot figure out what It is, asked the supplier and he said its possible coating from a gas they use to blow the bottles. Anybody ever have this problem?? I'm guessing you have narrowed it down to the bottles themselves (ie. film is random throughout different batches)?
NEPA-still-chillin
I'm guessing you have narrowed it down to the bottles themselves (ie. film is random throughout different batches)? yes this is exactly it. Not a single other bottle of ours does it, our same vodka goes into two different bottles and only the custom one has the film issue.
CCREngineering
We have designed and built a Bottle Cleaner. It uses ionized compressed air to break static bond and dislodge any particulate. Works Great. Check it out at http://www.designccr.com/ionized-bottle-cleaner/
