Assistant Distiller

Rare and Exciting career opportunity based in the Land of Hearts Desire County Sligo Ireland. Key role at the First Distillery to open in Sligo for over 200 Years.

Distiller required for New Craft Distillery in the West of Ireland.

Role

Assist with the research, planning and distilling of all Spirits at the Distillery.

Responsible for and influence over Style, Quality, Efficiency and Volume of alcohol production.

This will include set-up, monitoring, on-going maintenance, production and quality control of all distillery operations from mashing, fermentation, distillation and maturing of products in oak barrels as well as blending and preparing of the whiskey for bottling. Adherence to very high safety and quality standards will need to be maintained.

The role requires a high degree of understanding of the engineering, chemistry and science of alcohol distillation, both the practical and theoretical elements and aspects, together with a passion for the art of distillation.

The ideal candidate will have:

Appropriate tertiary qualifications related to alcohol distillation

Experience working with fermentation, mashing, column distillation of potable alcohol at a high level

Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal) and listening skills

Demonstrated skills and experience in working as a key member of a small team

The willingness and ability to work closely with sales staff and forge lasting relationships with customers
