RyeWater
Anyone have any experience with the Polypropylene Double Diaphragm Pumps. They seem to be able to handle temps up to 212°F and mixtures that are acidic like mash. They are quite are 300% cheaper than the Stainless Steel ones so it would be nice to use these. Just not sure if they are okay for thick grain in mashes. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-IN-BOX-2-Santoprene-Diaphragm-Chemical-Industrial-Resistant-Poly-Pump-/252154213685?hash=item3ab58ff535:g:7jMAAOSw3ydV1jzq Thanks
bluestar
That particular unit is not suitable for high proof alcohol. It is not just the casing that matters, but all of the wetted parts. Generally, I use the fluoropolymer based units for plastic at high proof.

Yeah I have a special one for the transfer of high proofs, I was just going to use this to pump mash around so nothing really higher than 10% ABV. Do you think this would be okay for that. Silk City Distillers
You need to check what the maximum solids diameter is for that particular model. Flapper valve models tend to be able to pass significantly larger solids than ball/seat valves.
