LADistiller
I have always used the cold water method by filling the barrel 1/3 full with cold water and letting it stand for 3-4 hours. Then filling it to 2/3s full and letting it stand for another 3-4 hours. Finally, I top it off and keep it full until the barrel stops seeping and seals itself. I then drain the barrel and fill it. The only downside with this process is that it usually takes about 2 days. Are there quicker ways of getting your barrels ready for use that are just as efficient? Cheers, LAdistiller
Donutboy
We fill the heads of ours with hot water until they pool up. once they can hold water for 3 hours or so, we flip em and do the other end. Never had one leak. Roy Camp 1805 Hood River
