JOB DESCRIPTION

The Head Distiller will be responsible for further developing the Old Dominick portfolio of brands, planning and executing distillation operations, overseeing production, and managing inventory. In addition, this position will work with marketing and sales teams to showcase portfolio brands in order to raise brand awareness with local and national media sources. This role’s oversight encompasses the entire production process including sourcing, distilling, quality control and maturation and selection of our estate aged products to exceed criteria and quality parameters. In addition, the head distiller will work with management to lead future distillery projects.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for entire distilling and quality control process and therefore should be well versed in scheduling, distilling, aging, and packaging operations.
• Manage raw ingredient inventories, scheduling, forecasts and contracts.
• Manage and develop procedures for operational & quality control.
• Manage and monitor all operations and distillery personnel.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution and control systems
• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, human resources modeling.
• Manage productivity of all operations.
• Engage with public through festivals, events, and competitions.
• Work in concert with Company’s Founder to manage budgets, and oversee the management of internal operating budgets.
• Participate in the development of new project/private label proposals.
• Develop a culture of action, collaboration and trust across all key stakeholders.

Nature & Scope

This role requires a strong respect for the past yet appreciation for innovation. The position demands strong project management and organizational skills, and the ability to manage varied priorities. It also demands a working knowledge of all of the disciplines of the business and distillation process, including such areas as supply chain, forecasting, production, operations, and quality assurance. In addition this role must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot potential obstacles.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Preferred Requirements

• Minimum of Bachelors Degree
• Minimum 3 years of distilling or brewing experience, at least 1 year in a production distillery or brewery with working knowledge of all aspects of distillery operations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the distillery process operation; process equipment related to distillery production; maturation procedures and a complete understanding of the entire process of making and aging spirits.
• Ability to maintain training and qualification documentation systems for all hourly operators.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
• Should have ability to multitask, work independently, as well as in a team environment.
• Working knowledge of MS-Office – especially Excel.
