    Hi Taff,

Is it warm enough to grow barley there on the Islands?     If it is, I imagine that you could have a very good business as long as most Falklanders drink Whiskey, which I am guessing that a lot of them do. If you ever need any equipment give us a holler. paul@distillery-equipment.com

    Hi

Can grow barley, but have a problem called hungry Upland Geese (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upland_goose) who descend upon it when it has reached a certain stage of maturity and totally destroy the crop.

And there's far too many to shoot.

So, unfortunately, tis far more economical to import.

And thank you for your info regarding equipment - very much appreciated.

    All the best and cheers

  2. Greetings from the Falkland Islands, south Atlantic Ocean.

Currently in its mid winter period here, temperature 5 Celsius and sunny,  we can have all four seasons in one day, any day of the year.

Had been distilling as a pastime for a number of years, using a home built rig.

Then as retirement approached, I realised that I needed something to keep me occupied so invested in an off the shelf rig, formed up a company called Tumbledown Whisky Limited, trading under the name of "Tumbledown Distillery",  bought malted barley and filled a hogshead which is the very first single malt whisky to be produced in my country..

How many can have such a claim to fame?

I am now waiting to erect a new build specifically for the distillery.

    All the best

    Taff Davies
