  1. Chuck:

While we do not have this approval yet, I'm assured by a DC attorney whose practice largely centers around the TTB that you can circumvent this restriction through the regulations allowing for Alternating Premises - essentially the same structure can be the distillery then can cease to be the distillery when it is functioning as the Winery, etc...See 27 CFR 25.81

  2. Hope this is on-topic enough...for liquor store sales, who uses a scalable wholesale price (discounted down for volume purchases) and if so how much? e.g. wholesale minus .50 for up to two cases, minus .80 for three to six? Anyone try anything in this neighborhood?

  3. Ralph:

Thanks for the update. We got our DSP today and state license should follow shortly. I'll talk to our local assemblyman. I'm pretty confident he will carry it in the assembly. Also spoke to Joe Griffo about it.

Dennis is a good fit for the Liquor Authority. He's a very bright and ethical guy. I worked for him at the Attorney General's office during law school. Let me know if I can help.

  4. Thanks all...timely topic to me. I have a further finishing question for vodka though.

We plan to filter with either charcoal or another substance (we live next to the Herkimer "diamond" mine so we may go local). My question is: we blend to proof, chill to filter, then do you folks warm to a certain temperature before bottling? and if so how; open air tank, warmer? Thanks.

  5. Hello all:

For those who have imported their stills from overseas (Germany)...did you obtain an import bond for the duties? Is it required or recommended and do you recommend any brokers?

    Thanks

  6. My question is more basic - how much and how do I calculate it? What amount of coverage is required for your DSP app and, if it's hard to increase, what should one have

  7. Looking to verify what my research shows...any NY distillers, please chime in.

Purchase of still and other equipment used in the production of end product are exempt from sales tax. Anything used in production of product upon which sales tax will be collected at resale would be covered. Statutes and tax publications seem to make this clear. Anyone had any different experience?

    Thanks
