Job Description Position Title: Distiller
Reports To: CEO
Start Date: Immediate
Location: New Orleans/Thibodaux
Summary
The Distiller will manage and assist in all distilling operations in Porchjam Distillery, at either one of their two facilities, in New Orleans and Thibodaux, LA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Grain and materials sourcing, handling and milling
Managing mashing and separation operations
Oversight of all fermentation processes
Managing all distilling processes, including:
oPot still distillation oColumn still distillation processes oManaging cuts and receiving of finished alcohols
High-proof alcohol management and proofing oFiltration of finished alcohols oOrganoleptics and QA/analysis of finished product
Managing fulfillment processes, including:
oBottling
oLabeling oCapping oCasing and pre-distribution processes
Records keeping, essential administration and QC
Manage all cleaning & sanitation processes in-house
General administrative tasks, including:
oMaterials orders, filing and paperwork duties
oProduction staff management oAssisting in contract production planning
Contribute to product development and planning
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum of 3-4 years direct experience in distilling operations
Solid understanding of theoretical distilling techniques and their practical application
Understanding of process equipment and hands-on problem solving
Experience in product analysis and quality control techniques
Excellent communication skills
Genuine team player who excels in growth environments
