Hi. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place where I could get reasonably priced black 750ml bottles. I'm not looking for a wine bottle, but something shorter and fatter for distilled spirits. I know that black glass is a bit more expensive than any other color.

I have been looking in China, but I have not been thrilled with the prices for the black glass. Does anyone have a good supplier for maybe around $1 per bottle? We are looking to buy 15-20 thousand. Also, I'm not looking for a clear bottle that's been sprayed black. We would like the color of the glass to be black.

We are not experts in corks but based on our experience we usually recommend Synthetic Cork Bartops rather than Natural Cork Bartops for spirits.

In fact there is a chance that in a clear bottle, with a natural cork, the cork can eventually release some residue after being used several times. That is not something nice to see in a bottle (cork floating on the liquid). The synthetic cork takes care of that. The only downside of the synthetic cork is its non-porosity, so when the product expands due to heat for example, if the recommended fill level of the bottle is not completely followed, the cork could end up being pushed out a little.

On that note I would like to point out that the fill levels reported on properly engineered bottles (bottom plate should always report the manufacturer's recommended fill height expressed in mm's) are very important and need to be followed for a proper application. If you can't download it right click on the link and choose "Save Link As"). Once you download the file, go to the first section, the FAQ on glass and see question 58. It shows where to find the recommended fill level for the bottle.

To follow up on my quick presentation of Bruni Glass on the Welcome board of this forum, I wanted to post here something that I believe is quite unique in the glass packaging world.

Back in 1996 Bruni Glass started a Design Competition called "Progetto Millennio" (Project Millennium). It is an international design competition that directly links Bruni Glass to schools of design and particularly to young students that, thanks to this opportunity, can really get quickly in touch with companies and find work (not so easy in these recent times).

This year we presented and celebrated its 10th Edition, at the world famous packaging show "SIMEI", held in Italy.
