  3. ****SOLD***

We are selling our 200L Arnold Holstein Cooper still (built in 2013). We are selling because we have upgraded to a larger size. She works perfectly, with some recent upgrades to the CIP plumbing (changed from brass compression fittings to triclover).

It’s a Hybrid still with a 13 plate vodka column and a 4 plate side column. The side column can be ran open or with bubble caps engaged. The pot still is steam heated with a pear shaped helmet and 240V phase agitator. Both columns are equipped with dephlegmators and lights inside the bottom section of the columns. The columns sit on a stainless pedestal that has 3 stainless collection tanks for heads, hearts and tails. The still and columns are complete copped on the inside. It’s also equipped with CIP system and water collection tank.

She has produced award winning brandy, whiskey, gin and vodka. We hate to see her go! Lead times on these new are 8 months (that’s with fingers crossed).

    Price is $65,000

The still has been disassembled and is ready for crating and shipment. The still is located in Windsor, CA 95492. Buyer is responsible for shipping and cost for crating (if needed).

  6. Our Sonoma County, California based craft distillery is looking for investors to take our business to the next level. We are located in the heart of the wine country with an established, well-followed brand. We have shown sales growth every year. We are looking for strategic partners/investors for increasing our sales team and for a potential relocation.

Further details can be obtained through request. Thank you.

  7. Curious if anyone has any experience with different types of Activated Carbon filter medias for filtering NGS/Vodka. We have used granular activated carbon for a while now and are looking to make our process easier without spending tens of thousands on a nice filter system. Something that is a little cleaner and easier setup.

One option we were looking at was a plate frame filter press and using activated carbon filter sheets. Wondering if anyone has experience on size and amount of sheets vs how much proof gallons of NGS/Vodka they will filter before changing. Will this be too expensive and if this process really gets the job done.

The other process is using code 7 Activated Carbon filters and housings. Again how many proof gallons per 30" filter and again will this process truly get the job done. I'm guessing this process would be more expensive, but not sure.

    Cheers

  8. Also I am a little confused on Part IV of the processing worksheet?? Can someone clarify when you would use this section and what the different sections mean:

    Bulk spirits dumped into processing

    Bottled - imported

Bottled (excluded bottled in bond and export)

    Bottled in bond (exclude export)

    Bottled for export

  9. I had a few questions with the monthly TTB reports:

I am a little confused on where to document bulk spirits before they are made into gin. We make vodka first which goes from our production account and then gets deposited into our storage account before bottling.

When we need to make some gin we take some of the vodka from our storage tank and then redistill it into gin.

Do we show the spirits coming from our storage account back to production for redistillation? How would you show that on the production reports? If that is the case what happens when you make some of your cuts when you redistill it to make gin? You could technically be left with less proof gallons in the end.

Or do you keep the gin completely separate from the vodka storage tank and it still is technically in the production account until it is made in gin?

  10. In regards to California based Distilleries, can someone explain to me how some distilleries get around selling bottles at the distillery (ie - St. George/Hangar One). Im guessing that someone else owns a retail ABC license on their premisis and then they buy it from the distributor and sell it back to the consumer, but not sure. My understanding is that you can't own conflicting ABC licenses in California.

    Thanks,

    Brandon

  11. Can someone explain the Pros and Cons of different ways of fermenting on Apples and Pears. We have the ability to have someone press the fruit for us and ferment on the juice. It is a little time intensive and have questions regarding flavor profiles of the distillate when fermented on the juice, in relation to fermenting with the apples in the mash. I'm am new to Brandy production and don't have much experience mashing the fruit.

We have the ability to pulverize the apples and add to our mash tank which is direct steam injection.

Can someone explain some processes for mashing on apples, rather than just using the pressed juice. As well as pros and cons for different techniques?

    Cheers,

    Brandon

  12. Has anyone had any experience using a commercial descaler rather than a water softener for their steam boiler application? Pros/Cons? Just would rather not deal with the salt and wondering if descalers are a waste of time or not.

    Thanks, Brandon

  13. Does anyone have any experience with oversizing a boiler for their application. We sourced a boiler for our distillery which is about 3 times the minimum size requirement from the manufacturer. I was told that the application you are using it for (ie: running the still or heating a mash vessel) would only use as much as it needs. So is it correct that if we have an oversized boiler, the energy it uses and the cost for running it would be the same as a smaller boiler? It seemes to be basic physics, but I'm not sure?

    Thanks,

    Brandon

  14. We are selling our brand new Crown Low pressure, Natural Gas Steam Boiler (Series24-06SG00R). We sourced it from a local supplier, but a mistake was made and it's too large for our operation. It comes disassembled and everything is new still in the box. The unit has never even been off the pallets.
