  2. Hey Charlie,

Hope all is going well at SAS. I've been following you guys for a little while now. It is nice to see your product appearing in some stores. I hope to try it soon. As far as franchise laws are concerned about half of the states have some type of franchise structure. The easiest way to find out which states have these laws is to use the WSWA's website. They have a nifty state by state function. Just choose all states and then scroll down to XIII. Franschise. It will populate the states that have franchise laws and also allow you to review the specific state laws. The link is; http://sld.gbdev1.com/home.php.

I'd love to talk with you guys about your experience so far. Shoot me an email if you have any additional questions. treym9004@gmail.com.

    KMHerring 3,

Thanks for the response. That is exactly what I was looking for. I will shoot you an email.

  3. Not sure what you mean by a franchise state? coop

Some states have franchise laws that govern agreements between wholesalers and suppliers. That means that alcoholic beverages suppliers who want to sell their products in the state must establish either exclusive or non-exclusive franchise relationships with in-state distributors. You could possibly be stuck in a contract with a distributor which isnt living up to his side of the deal for a while. I am not a lawyer. However, these laws concern me when considering distributing in states with such laws.

  4. I have been contacted by multiple charity organizations lately wanting donations of spirits for events, auctions, etc. I am in North Carolina which is a control state. I would love to help these organizations but I am not sure if it is financially feasible. I know this is more of a question for my state ABC but can I just donate the spirit and pay the Fed taxes or do I need to repurchase my gin from a state ABC store? Since im not saleing it I would think I could donate it.

    Thanks,

    Alex Mauney

  5. Those of you using reverse osmosis filtering system's as I am. At what TDS do you typically change your RO filters? I asked the company I bought it from and they told me it depends on the individual. For our given application what would be the TDS reading to look for to change the filter? I really appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Alex Mauney

  6. Flex tank USA. I am curious if anyone has any experience with this company? Is there other companys simular to this? I also notice the sell aging tanks. How do you think this would be aging spirits in a HDPE tank? Let me know what you think.

    Thanks,

    Charlie

  7. Dear All,

I am looking for the TTB gauging tables in excel. I could copy them over by hand but this would take a considerable amount of time which I do not have. I am going to make a access database out of them and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Charlie Mauney

  8. Congrats. We got our approval from the Fire Marshall today as well. Only needed to add one interior exit light. Building stuff was pretty easy here.

Our state won't let us apply for our distillery license until we have the federal, so now we wait. But we have lots to do in that time.....

    Best of luck to you.....

Congrats. We couldnt apply for our state permit until we received federal basic permit. I mailed the state application today. Hopefully it will go smoothly.

  9. We have received our Fire, Zoning, and Building codes approval. The first initial walk through in with the local fire marshal was very laid back. He told us some things that needed to be done before he would sign off on it. We had to get an additional door for a fire exit, Safety lights for the doors and fire extinguishers. Nothing really unexpected. The zoning/building code people from city hall came down and looked over everything. Since we were sprinkled and an existing building it was pretty much cut and dry. I wish you all luck.

  10. We had a few discrepancies on our application. Our specialist stated they were typical mistakes. I gave her permission to change them and it saved alot of time. I recommend filling out the forms the best you can and mail them. From my experience the TTB is very easy to work with. Before we applied I worked with someone about the bond. I found it to be the most confusing. We are located in North Carolina. If all you have is fire marshall and federal, you are almost in the clear. I have to meet the fire marshall today. Hopefully it will go smoothly. Good luck.

    Cheers,

    Charlie

  11. Hello all,

As of Monday October 26th, we have received our federal permit! We applied August 22nd and were issued October 22. We are now working on our state application and must get building and fire marshal to inspect. We hope dealing with the state will be as straightforward as it was with the TTB. Hopefully we will be making delicious beverages in no time. Wish us luck.

    Thanks,

    Charlie

  12. I am interested about online liquor stores. DO you have to be on the vendor list of the state that the online liquor store is located? I have seen ADI member's products on online liquor stores. I am curious about the process of getting a product on the webpage. Does the online liquor store have a bonded warehouse? Or do we mail the spirits once it is ordered? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Charlie

  13. Greetings from Kings Mountain NC! We have applied for our federal permit on the 22nd of August. We are in the final stages of permiting with the Feds. Our DSP is located in a old textile mill. The flagship product we are going to produce is a premium gin. We are also going to have a Mint Tea Vodka soon following the gin. Our goal is to eventually produce fruit brandys of the highest quality. Eau De Vie and aged Fruit Brandys is the plan and we also may produce some other spirits. We look forward to being active members of the ADI forum. We also hope to meet some of you in person in the future.

    Cheers,

    Southern Artisan Spirits
