  1. I have an old roller mill that used to have an elec. motor but now I run off the PTO of my tractor but I don't like the safety factor. If someone wants to come to iowa with a Trailer, I would take 350.00 for it. It works great. I have all the treads loosened up. Let me know thru the Forum if interested. I have purchased an old poultry hammer mill that I run off a 220 volt motor and it works just fine for me, takes a little longer but really breaks up the corn.
  2. I have a 200 gallon still with an 8" column that I can make a stripping run down to 20% in about 3.5 hours. I think that is pretty normal.
  3. Thanks for the info everyone. The flaked corn is available at Briess Malt for about .65 per lb. I have purchased a hammer mill and will be using corn that has been milled pretty small. The flaked corn is good but way too expensive.
  4. Does anyone have any experience with leaving mash from a previous run in the tank for a new run? I'm looking for ratios that you use to add new grain. For instance, does the spent grain replace some new grain going in or do you add grain just like you would normally? Also I'm using flaked corn, roasted rye and barley. Does anyone have any ideas on how to reduce cost? Has anyone used corn meal?
