  1. Tenth Ward Distilling is a craft distillery, established in 2016, and located in the heart of downtown Frederick, Maryland. The business is locally owned and operated and specializes in a variety of spirits and canned cocktails. We are proud to be woman-owned. We are located in what used to be the Tenth Ward of Frederick City. Everything we make is non-traditional and unconventional, which is why we live fearlessly by our slogan – #wardoffordinary. Responsibilities: The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing our distillery facility that distills, barrels and blends spirits and canned cocktails. This role will support day to day distilling and packaging when needed but primarily will be responsible for facility upkeep, inventory, reporting, administrative duties, schedules, and some equipment maintenance. Experience with Alpha and/or Lotus canning lines is a plus. Tenth Ward operates a 1,000L hybrid pot still, 2,000L pot still, 2,000L mash tun, 4 fermenters and a canning line with chillers and air compressors on site to support the process. The Production Manager should be available Monday - Friday 40 hours per week to manage and perform operations. Must be available to support occasional evening and weekend events when needed. Duties: Facility maintenance: Set and meet expectations to keep the production facility clean, organized and up to a high quality standard. Ensure equipment, HVAC, plumbing and electric are regularly cleaned, serviced and maintained. Inventory: Keep all finished product, unfinished product, raw materials and packaging items at set par levels at all times. Work with vendors to find cost savings when possible. Support the production of spirits including but not limited to: Weekly and daily status updates with team and executing a schedule that supports brewing, still operation, proofing, bottling, labeling, ordering, reporting and sanitation of equipment and production space. Compliance: Monthly and quarterly Federal and State excise reporting. Working with the team to maintain accurate operation logs and safety protocol. Filing recipes and reports with TTB. Management: Work with a growing distillery team to meet our increasing demand. Front of House: Available for specific events to provide knowledge about product, and about company history. Leading growth of Tenth Ward’s spirits, canned cocktails and barrel program: Develop budget and production plan that increases growth, implement efficient practices, and refine processes and recipes. Professional Development: Stay up to date with current industry standards and best practices, grow understanding of current industry trends. Canning: Ideally this role will operate the canning line on canning weeks up to 5 days per month. Qualifications: Attention to detail in standards of cleanliness and task orientation Strong management and organizational skills Mechanically inclined and familiar with basic troubleshooting for operation equipment Experience with Lotus or Alpha canning line operation 5 years of experience in the craft beverage industry Decision making pulling from experience with ability to foster efficiencies Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Capable of developing and maintaining a production budget Customer service skills and effective communication to support occasional brand promotion Experience with stillhouse management software is a plus Comfortable with working at a fast pace to meet deadlines Work environment: Candidate must be able to lift 50 lbs on a consistent basis, with weight up to 75 lbs occasionally. May involve exposure to cold, hot and humidity. Must be comfortable frequently using a forklift. Must be at least 21 years of age.
