  3. I've followed this forum for the last year or so and haven't said much, but I got my DSP yesterday so I figure that it's time for a quick introduction. But first, a sincere THANKS is in order to everyone who contributes to these threads. There is a wealth of knowledge here, and a great community. Thanks everybody!

Anyway, our company is Ursa Major Distilling and we're located in Fairbanks, Alaska. We are a very small operation, and intend on mostly catering to the local market. We're getting into the product development stage now, but like many others, we're starting with Vodka right away, while we work on our Gins and Whiskeys. All of our products will be made with local barley from the farm down the road. We've got tons of ideas for products using the wealth of local ingredients that Fairbanks has to offer, but like I said, we're just breaking into the development stage now.

Thanks again to everyone who contributes to this site!

    Rob

Hey Rob, Congrats on your new distillery! If you haven't already decided on a bottle for your product line, please keep us in mind as we are already shipping bottles to Alaska.

    Cheers,

    Shawn

  4. I've been on lurking on the forum for the better part of last year while I planned my operation. I'm putting the finishing touches on my business plan and have investors lined up to propel me financially into this endeavor. I know I'm one of many in the New York area either already distilling or in the process of getting approved but I'll be introducing a new type of spirit that is not currently being crafted here.

My uncle's family from Georgia was into moonshining and I've learned quite a bit from him as well as traditional methods for distilling from other parts of the world.

Look forward to getting to know you guys more and learning from all of you. Hopefully, once I'm up and running, or during the process, I can be helpful in anyway.

Best of luck to you! When the time comes and you need to order some moonshine jugs or mason jars, please give me shout :)

    Cheers,

    Shawn

  5. Hello,

We have a new 32 oz Growler mould which was originally planned for the microbrewery market and unfortunately we can't get an amber color production until March 2013, but we do have an opportunity to run it in flint if there is any interest out there? I don't have a picture or sample just yet as the mould is going to be sampled in the coming days. I do a have a PDF drawing but can't upload it here so if you would like to see the PDF drawing then drop me an email. The Growler will look exactly like the one in the picture below (64 oz) except it will be half the size and also be in flint. I'm not sure if there would be a use in the distillery marketplace for this sized jug, but if so it would make a great moonshine jug.

    Cheers,

    Shawn

    Update:

The test samples look great - please see the picture of the 32 oz flint growler below:

  6. Very nice. Love the square one and the one on the bottom is interesting as well. If you build them, they will sell.

I really like this one too and based on the interest already I will begin the process and see what the costs will be. If anyone is interested, please send me some forecasts so I can see if we can get to the minimum production run. The bottles will be made here in the US.

    Cheers,

    Shawn

  7. Hello to all the distillers & future distillers of whiskey that gather here at ADI that are looking for unique bottles for their product lines. I have been looking at old whiskey bottles that were once run back in the late 1890's - 1920's and have been discussing the possibility of new moulds with our supplier's. I tend to like the old look of these old bottles and am wondering if anyone else thinks the same way I do? I am drawn to these particular style of bottles and if you think there is a market for these old bottles to become new again then please let me know as we are willing to make the investment if the interest is out there?

    Cheers,

    Shawn

  8. We're getting closer to the day when we'll need to have our bottling and packaging

worked out and I'm trying to get a feel for what to expect from wholesale bottle distributers

in terms of minimum order numbers. Any insight would be mucho appreciated.

Our minimum is a skid if we drop ship from the factory, but if we have stock on the floor at our Richmond, VA location we can sell less than a skid.

  10. Hi everyone,

We are just a few weeks away from having the 375ml Arizona bottle produced by Piramal Glass here in the USA. The sample run went great and now we await a production schedule! In the mean time if you are interested in this bottle and would like to see a sample or pricing, please contact me at any time at the numbers below. I could not attach a PDF drawing or picture of the bottle due to the size of the files, but have attached a picture of what this bottle looks like from our website in the 750ml size.

  11. Closer to Texas the better.

A one stop shop where we can get our bottles and printing done would be nice if such a thing exists? We are talking with Fusion right now.

First run we would like to be between 1000-2000 bottles.

Still is up and running and we just got our label design completed by our designer. Need some finished bottles.

    Thank you for your help,

    Ryan S.

    Hi Ryan,

We are a bottle distributor based in Richmond, VA and are able to supply you with American made spirit bottles. We also have a printing program with Arton http://www.artonproducts.com/catalog/faq.php?cID=1 who are only a short distance from our location.

    Cheers,

    Shawn

  12. Hi folks ...

Much more to come from us, but we wanted to pop in and say 'hello' from Galena, Illinois! We're well on our way to opening our distillery in early 2013, and we look forward to meeting many of you along this journey. Neither chemical engineering experts nor outright newbies to the field, we share the fierce desire to create quality products, learn from all of you, and share the knowledge we pick up along the way. Here we go ....!

    Regards,

    Matt & Mike Blaum

    Hi Matt & Mike,

Congrats on your new distillery! If you are looking for a bottle supplier, please give us a consideration :) I would be happy to have samples sent to you.
