Position Summary: Vermont-based Lost Lantern Spirits, an award-winning independent bottler of American whiskey that launched in 2020, is beginning to build out its team! We’re seeking a Northern California sales representative who is an excellent communicator and problem solver, and is excited to get the word out about Lost Lantern. Sales experience, preferably in spirits, is a must. Knowledge about whiskey is a huge plus but not a requirement. This role reports to Lost Lantern’s General Manager and is the first position on our sales team.

Job Summary: This position will work closely with the company’s cofounders to develop and execute Lost Lantern’s sales strategy. The Northern California Sales Rep will achieve this by building out a solid network of accounts that are a fit for our brand, with a primary focus on San Francisco and the broader Bay Area. This position will also be responsible for putting together a tasting program, collaborating with website sales partners (e.g. Speakeasy), and designing sales strategies. This position will be an important participant in Lost Lantern’s promotional calendar in California, our top market. 

An ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in spirits sales for a small-to-medium sized distillery or at a distributor. As our first sales position, this role offers substantial opportunity for growth for the right candidate.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales in new and targeted accounts, primarily off-premise
  • Proactively identify opportunities for placement and brand development in the Bay Area and the rest of Northern California
  • Develop relationships with key distributor and retail partners
  • Personally call on new and existing accounts regularly
  • Build weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales plans
  • Build and execute on whiskey club strategy
  • Analyze sales performance and general purchasing trends to iterate on sales strategies
  • Work with marketing to develop successful strategies and campaigns to attract new customers 
  • Manage relationships with logistics partners
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of our products
  • Organize and participate in promotional events including whiskey festivals, retail tastings, and launch event


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 2 years sales experience, with a strong preference for a spirits sales background
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing sales strategies
  • Demonstrated innovation and creativity to create brand new strategies that attract customers and succeed over the competition
  • Sophisticated understanding of spirits trends
  • Collaborative skills with the ability to incorporate others’ ideas into strategies
  • Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and other applicable software
