AdirondackVodka
Looking to verify what my research shows...any NY distillers, please chime in. Purchase of still and other equipment used in the production of end product are exempt from sales tax. Anything used in production of product upon which sales tax will be collected at resale would be covered. Statutes and tax publications seem to make this clear. Anyone had any different experience? delaware_phoenix
Usually as a manufacturer your raw materials are not charged sales tax as that is collected on the end product. Equipment is a different matter as you are the end user of that equipment. But usually that only applies to purchases made in NY.
miller
Food production equipment is tax exempt in New York, of course where you draw the line can be delicate. The sales tax people are really very helpful on this topic.
Ralph at Tuthilltown
I believe that any equipment you purchase for your company, capital expenditures included, are not taxable. But best to get an attorney to review and comment.
