Carbon Filter

I'm in the market for a carbon filter for spirit.

I'm thinking about doing a little home-made thingie using a 5-gal soda keg, but I've been having trouble finding silicone components and granular carbon (I'm a little afraid of the mess that the powder would make; I hear it is quite difficult to handle). Any recommendations for sources for silicone soda keg components or a good supplier of granular carbon?

Also, any comments/suggestions on my proposed rig?

If anyone has a better idea on a cheap way to throw together a carbon filter, or a cheap place to buy one (would the fiberglass types used for water also work for spirits?) please let me know!
