Donutboy Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 So this happened yesterday..... http://www.oregonlive.com/business/index.ssf/2014/01/hood_river_distillers_acquires.html Hood River Distillers Inc. will add Portland-based Clear Creek Distillery to its portfolio, as part of a deal announced Friday. As Oregon distilleries gain national prominence, the deal brings together one of the state's largest players with a craft distiller known for its unique spirits. Clear Creek Distillery distills fruit brandy and sells under its own label, and is behind others such as Oregon Brandy and McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt Whiskey. The craft distiller generated $2 million in revenue in 2013. Terms of its acquisition, which closes at the end of the month, were not disclosed. While the 28-year-old Clear Creek will continue to operate out of Northwest Portland, its leadership will change. Brad Whiting, a top Hood River Distilling employee, will take over as general manager. Steve McCarthy, who founded Clear Creek, will remain involved in the brand as adviser and spokesman. In a written statement, McCarthy said Clear Creek experienced steady growth and could reach its full potential with the help of Hood River Distillers. No layoffs are planned at Clear Creek as a result of the deal. The distiller employs nine people, who will join Hood River's 70 employees. Hood River Distillers, headquartered in the Columbia River Gorge city by the same name, does not disclose its sales figures. Its brands include Pendleton Whisky, 1910 Rye Whisky, Sinfire Cinnamon Whisky and HRD Vodka, among others.
