Wondered if anyone has added a distillery to a winery, I have a 4000 case winery in MN, solid booked for weddings and events, ordered a still and sent in applications to TTB and State. Intention is to make spirits for serving and in time to distributors. Any advise or experiences with this vertical integration would be appreciated. Timothy, Next Chapter winery llc

I was informed that in California, distilleries can produce spirit for wineries and if those spirits (brandy and pomace brandy) are produced from the winery's grapes the spirits can be sold by the winery under their tasting license. Does anyone have experience with this? Can you point me to the state laws related to it? One place I distill is a small Oregon brandy distillery, and it would be a lot of fun for us if something similar could get passed in Oregon. I am hopeful that seeing a framework operating someplace else might give us a starting point.

Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone has a winery and distillery setup. I know that the TTB states that you can't have them on the same "location" but what does that mean. Can it just exist in a separate building on the property? or is there more to it than that. § 19.52 Restrictions on location of plants. A person who intends to establish a distilled spirits plant may not locate it in any of the following places: (a) In any residence, shed, yard, or enclosure connected to a residence; ( On any vessel or boat; © Where beer or wine is produced; (d) Where liquors are sold at retail; or (e) Where any other business is conducted except as provided in § 19.54.
