polish

I looking for polishing tips. Polishing the pot is relatively easy and successful. The column is another animal. The surface is smooth and I am usually left with streaks. Can you/anyone suggest a good polish and/or provide some tips.

Brasso and elbow grease. Do it when cold of course. Coop

The best metal polish I have ever seen is Simichrome. German, pretty expensive, but makes the most incredible shine I have ever seen.

Some metals are softer than others and require different abrasive grit. What works for silver doesn't do so much for hard brass, for example.

What are the parts of your still made of?

Ketchup first then brasso. Don't forget the brasso or it will tarnish again quickly. Seriously, I have never appreciated ketchup until I saw it clean up copper.

I worked in a detail shop for a few years and the best all round metal polish I have ever used is Maas. It's easy to get, affordable, and easy to use.

Ketchup and Brasso. Will a citric acid solution spray followed up with brasso do the same thing?

Not sure about citric acid spray... let me know what happens if you try it.

Take care to not take away layers of the copper itself. Not for today, but at the end of the life of the unit. Kind of like prepaying a mortgage.
