How many wine barrels fit inside a 53' semi?

Hi All,

I'm looking for information on how many 225ltr barrels (french) can potentially fit inside a 53' semi, versus a 40' sea container (un-palletized). The range is supposedly 200-225 for a 53', but does anyone have an exact number from personal experience of using the two transport methods?

Call up a cooperage. Bouchard in Napa would be an easy start.

I think we've seen as many as 280 empty 53 gallon barrels on a semi. Once full, you max out the weight limit at around 60 barrels.
