Dsking416 Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 I have been wondering about this as well at least for locally sold product. I am on a small island as well and shipping is crazy. Has anyone successfully reused painted bottles?
Flaskaholic Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 In my area it's fine to reuse them as long they're properly cleaned but I prefer them bringing them around in flasks because it's cooler like that. Check out this amazing article about flasks at www.flaskaholic.com/now-hip-flasks-became-cool-short-history/

We first obtained written permission from the TTB and also verified legality with our state- some states require bars to destroy the bottles. We pick up and buy back (.50ea) from our wholesale accounts and consumers can return their bottles to our tasting room and get $1 in store credit for each bottle. We redesigned our labels and use an adhesive that cleanly comes off with a hot water rinse. We wash in a high temp washer (we discard anything that looks suspect- like bottles that were used for infusions) and have had no issues. I have one part time mom who does the work. We have reworked over 6000 bottles so far this year. Could you give some details about your labels and the adhesive?

Humulus Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 Depending on the glue used. Try PBW from 5-star. Soak in 4+% solution, labels can come off in an hour or sometimes an overnight soak is necessary.

Our Multi Function Washer doesn't take label off. We have a partner who manufacture Label Remover search for DESTICK + - Pro VS His name is Patrick. Soak and the label drop off in 10 minutes ! super efficient. THEN you need to wash your bottle before refilling. See us at aquatech-bm.com
