For Sale 33ft Tube in Tube Mash Chiller
robowop replied to robowop's topic in For Sale - Peer to Peer
Sorry for the late reply, I am using water that is chilled by a glycol chiller so it's about 4 degrees C, 40 degrees F chilling from mash temps to pitching took me about 45 mins but this was a lautered mash - i did not use it for grain on mashing as my mash tun jacked worked fine for chilling. -
Hi There, Im selling a tube in tube/tube in shell mash cooler that i've used twice - works great, but no longer needed as my mash tun does a good job of chilling with the cooling jackets and agitation and i've stopped lautering my mash. each pass is 49.5", there are 8 tubes - 33ft total. 2" inner tube with 2" TC connections, outer tube is 3". Glycol or cold water hookups are 1", standard 1.5" TC connections. Asking $3000 CAD OBO + freight from Belleville, Ontario, Canada. Photos below:

@Southernhighlander i did not get to the seal yet - I'll call in the morning, but i don't have the shaft size. I'll speak to Tim and see what he requires Thanks!
-
@meerkat @Southernhighlander @whiskeytango Thank you all so much for your help. There is a local company near me who also imports these stills - i won't mention their name, but they wouldn't even return my calls. It is so refreshing to know that this forum is filled with knowledable people who are willing to help!

Thank you to everyone who provided their insight into my problem. I ended up making changes to my trap (added 1 large U Trap and removed the S Traps) and added a dip tube as suggested by @meerkatand @Southernhighlander and it drains beautifully now.
-
I'll give the paste a shot - i'm running just the single column for the vodka production, but i agree that it seemed like a flow issue. separating the lines might be a good idea as well. Thanks!
-
Typically when i'm running vodka, it's without agitation - however the agitator vapor seal is leaking ONLY when running the vodka column
-
Hope this help. I got excited at the idea of this being a $14 dollar fix, or a 200 dollar in canadian dollars haha.
-
Hey thanks for the reply - some additional details: they aren't draining properly - after equalizing the plates under full reflux, the bottom plates (bottom 2 to 3) will fill entirely. I can only correct this slightly by taking reflux off all together. It's as if they aren't able to drain to the pot quick enough

Hi Guys, Just getting into production at my distillery and i have a 600L (around 160 gallon) hybrid still direct from China that i purhcased a few years back, but only recently started running on it. Knowing what i know now, i don't think i would have ever bought direct from china as the after support is terrible. That said, I'm stuck with it now, but need the community help please. My 20 plate column is flooding whenever i try to run vodka and more recently the agitator motor seal started leaking vapor. Because of this i've stopped using it and stopped production. I've attached pictures hoping that someone out there can help me figure out how to fix the flooding issue and maybe suggest where i could get replacement seals. I'm located near Toronto, Ontario, but this is a real show stopper for me. Anything will help! Much appreciated. Willing to pay for assistance as well.

correct way to set up manual steam control valves for stills
robowop replied to Southernhighlander's topic in Equipment
I know this is an old post, but i wish i saw this about a month ago haha. I have 1 globe valve on the still and one on the mash tun. -
Hi all! Just looking for some help from the local Ontario folks. I am building a distillery near Belleville Ontario and i am struggling to find someone who will do the steam piping for me. I've purchased a boiler from another distiller on here (thanks!). Anyone have any recommendations? i'm sort of desperate at this point. Thanks!
-
Focus on that last point! I too am in the final stages of building a farm distillery in Eastern ontario. You should get started now if you're planning on retiring in 5 years! haha, I've been at it since 2016 and i'm still nowhere near opening.
-
Initially Vodka and Gin, as well as some italian spirits (grappa and amaro), but as with many, the end game is whiskey.
-
Thanks so much. This is why I love the distillers and brewers of the world. We all are in support of each other. Much appreciated.

LOL i agree. I'm located in Toronto Canada, and building the distillery a little east of here in a rural town. There have been several complaints ranging from the black fungus, fire concerns, butyic acid smells and pollution concerns. I just want to be prepared to debunk these issues come next week when I have the town hall meeting.

Hi There, In my recent zone change amendment for a micro distillery, one major point of opposition is the black sludge/fungus that grows around major distilleries in the world. I'm not really even sure how to argue this point, but I have no evidence of this happening on a micro distilling level. Do you guys have any experience with how to calm the public regading these opinions? Thanks!
