  1. Engineering comon sence ......now thats funny silk . But seriuosly silk city is bang on with what we experianced in our original build . Our architect /engineer layed out the plan for us and then we pitched it to the inspector , they agreed on 6 air changes a hour ,,,,we installed euiptment that does 13 changes a hour , everyone is happy . Sometimes over kill shuts alot of mouths .

  2. Not all stainless is stainless , we bought sight glasses from a vendor that fit a 4 inch column on a rd still . The bolts that hold the sight glass together rusted within a month , bottom line is vendors buy stuff from all over world and dont test if its stainless or jus shiny . Buyer beware .

  3. Those old cast radiators are very cool and very artsy fartsy once there all painted up . Keep your eye out for an old hospital or school thats being demolished,  the demo crew usually sell them off at scrap price . Some will handle steam while others were used with hot water depending on the type of boiler that was in the facility .

  4. Our house is about 500 feet from distillery so about 1000 feet of one inch pex insulated and buried . I should add we use a worm tub for our stripping still , hydronic water ciculates from worm tub to house ,then back to hydronic mixing board in distillery , from mixing board to big chiller in warehouse , then back to worm tub . The big chiller is regulated by thermostat to ensure the last of the heat is pulled out before it returns to worm tub . We also added a steam line in the lyne arm so we can heat the worm in the event that the still is not runing and heat is needed . The spirit still (tube and shell condenser and deflag)is plumbed into the small chiller and can be run thru cement floor if small chiller is not able to keep up .

  5. For anyone into net Felix  check out the documentary called ..Rotten...an in-depth look at the food industry but in particular check out the episode on wine . I find that the problems there having with bulk fake wine very interesting . Much the same as problems with bulk spirits .

  7. Hello I have a question for all you well established distilleries . If you were offered a buy out for your distillery , equipment, recipes, and all rights to your name and product names would you take it ? Would you take the money and run or continue to do what your doing and cashing in on the long game .
