JohninWV
I didn't need to log in. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/22/dining/22Distill.html?_r=2&hp I was glad to see many members in the article. A question for people here: Do you agree with Mr. Gerling's statement that "they may lack some refinement"?

cowdery
Fabulous quote: “This is my way to maximize my family’s agricultural heritage,” he said. “From the farmer’s perspective, the only way to increase the value of an apple is to make it into spirit and put that in oak.” "he" is Derek Grout of Harvest Spirits. Jonathan Forester
I just went up to see Derek last week. He happened to be on baby duty with his newborn, so we ended up just hanging in the tasting room/distillery with his wife and staff, tasting dozens of experimental things. Fabulous quote: “This is my way to maximize my family’s agricultural heritage,” he said. “From the farmer’s perspective, the only way to increase the value of an apple is to make it into spirit and put that in oak.” "he" is Derek Grout of Harvest Spirits.
