Receiving tanks and overage

Morning all,

I'm hoping you can help with a little process flow problem in running into... sorry if this is a dumb question....

So say I collect 30g of 60% spirit that needs to be proofed down to 50%. I'll add the water and end up with an odd amount (36g). Too much for a 30g barrel and not enough for a 53g. How are you storing that 6/36g until you do you next run and have enough to fill your barrel?

What size receiving/proofing tanks would you recommend for a 300g 8-10% ferment? I'm guessing a 50g tank?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks,

We use 55gal stainless barrels to hold our spirits before we proof them down.  ( https://www.bubbasbarrels.com/55-gallon-open-head-seamless-drum add a drain)

We also have a spirits mixing tank (200gal) for proofing and mixing.

If the goal is not to spend money on more equipment, I guess you can partial fill your barrel then top it off. The clock starts ticking when the barrel is topped off. We never done it that way, so I don't know if there are any reporting issues unless it's over two separate months.
