porter
Has anyone ever heard of using two different condensers to distill a molasses wash? It's just vapor at the condensor, and clean vapor at that. So why do think it takes dual or different condensors?
Oblitze
I was talking to a guy And he was saying something about using two condensers, a first one for the beginning of the run, and then switch to a second to avoid fouling. It didn't make much sense to me so I thought I would ask and see if anyone had encountered anything like this.
porter
Unless your system 'pukes' it should all be clean by the time it hits the condensor. You're running way too hot if it gets crap in the condensor. By then that's the least of your worries. The entire column would be contaminated; plates would require extra cleaning, etc.
Classick
yeah, i would tell them to stage their heat up... run hot/forceful to about 100 degrees, then throttle back on the fire/steam and let it gradually approach the boil. We've had carryover before, but lower fill levels and controlling the heat fixed that.
Brian
http://ebookee.org/The-Alcohol-Textbook_531747.html This is a decent text book which has MANY types of stills, mashes, molecular sieves, and many still layouts....download it and you will sleep soundly tonight..... Best, Brian
