RogerWH
Hello, I'm researching starting a distillery in Southern California and soaking up everything I can about local zoning codes which seem to be my biggest hurdle at the moment. If I can't make that work I'm moving out of the country! Roger
bluestar
Locals are most often the greatest challenge and issue to setting up a distillery. Many of us end up having to site at a very different location than we originally planned.
Michaelangelo
Talk to the Economic Development person in each town you will consider. In our case they found buildings for us that met the local codes for what we were planning. It's a resource that is there to help you and will save you a lot of time. RogerWH
Michaelangelo, that is an exceptionally good piece of advice. Thank you.
hiredguns
Hi Roger, Welcome to the forum! I'm relatively new here myself. If/when you get to the point where you're starting to think about branding / packaging design for your distillery, please don't hesitate to get in touch! Cheers! Decagon
Hi! I am also in the beginning stages of setting up an absinthe distillery in the Los Angeles area. The zoning issues abound! I believe I may have found a suitable location to sublet within another distillery. However, I'm not sure what order I need to handle all of the paperwork in. Does anyone have any experience in absinthe or hard alcohol business from the ground up?
