  1. I just recieved bottles in cartons from my supplier. Worked out fine enough, but..

Be aware each time the carton is handled, on truck , off truck, fork lift, hand jack, you will have damage to the corners of the pallets. Especially if they are overhanging.

You'll also have some crushing if too many are on a pallet and there is freeboard space for the t-tops.

Not much you can do about this, just be prepared for not having 100% useable cartons.

Talk it all out before pulling the trigger. Shipping costs vs. bulk, Color of carton, How will you brand your carton, etc.

I'll still reorder with cartons until I get a little purchasing power.

I think there was a thread on purchasing cartons here at ADIforums.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

    Cheers,

    Bob

  2. My response to this is not based to extend this thread, but to be able to sleep at night. Don't do this! On so many levels it is wrong. Besides the legality and liability, consider the well being of your party guests and yourself. I suggest the alcohol you will produce is not beverage ready! That is what we do. Catagorically, what you will do is not a beer, wine or spirit. The process is not complete. Visit a local distillery / brewery (buy some product)and ask questions about why you should not do what you intend to do.

Your guests are trusting you to offer up a safe and delicious concoction. Again, pick up a bottle of a reputable craft distilled product, go on-line and visit some distilleries websites, and speak with confidence about what you are serving. Also, please leave the bottle out, label visiable.

As Jonathan recommends, learn brewing and wine making techniques, give some working hours to a local producer, grow into distilling. We all did. We will be here when the time is right and you are ready.

    Cheers,

    Bob

  3. Hello Guy,

We also use the Filter device from Lewis at Bavarian. Do you have a reliable supplier for the filter sheets?

Ours came with Beko KD-10 & CP03S. Was that fine enough for you?

    Thanks,

    Bob

  4. Coop, What hose did you use and what length? Does it make contact with the Pot? How about your agitator?

Also, We are having problems with getting no condensate for the plates on the taller column. The clarifying column.

The vapor runs up through to the stripping column where the deflagmator condenses for that column. We actually get only one plate active. 5th from the pot.

    Any comments,

    Thanks, Bob

  5. Bill,

I spoke with two bottle guys from a supplier in Mexico at the ADI conferencethis year.

I'll look up their names and report, although I think they were from Vitro.

  6. There are several out there who have participated in the change of their states laws to allow for craft distilling in a more agreeable environment. Is there a listing of these efforts and could we post their bill numbers? This would be for others to draw from if we were interested in drafting our own legislation? Also, a question for all, what elements would your "Dream Bill" have to ease the restrictions of ancient laws.

    Thanks,

    Bob

  7. Just to add my thoughts, I have too much respect for those who went before to attach that title to myself. Never considered it. At 53 years there probably isn't enough time anyway. So my partner, Dave Wood and I will just chug along the path ahead and be proud of what we have chosen as a career.

We'll be pleased to see you all at Louisville ADI conference.
