  1. Try to find a cheap Hammermill.

I could not live without my Hammermill I have 5 to 6 different screens for it and it is a bad mother.

It will process 4000 pounds an hour with the quarter-inch screen. I currently use the 1/8 inch screen.

I'm always trying to find other sources of revenue to use it. Because right now we will process all of our corn for the month in a matter of two hours and then the Hammermill gets pushed back into the corner.

  2. Truth be told it is a no-brainer. If you have a pot still you can't make a great vodka in a time efficient manner. If you have a refraction still you can make anything from a good whiskey to a great vodka.

A refraction still is efficient and energy and time. We all know if you have a pot still you're going to have to run at two or three times to get to where you need to be why not just run it one time and your refraction still and be done with it.

    That's just my two cents.

  3. With the added surface area of having your pot still on its side your column should be matched to handle the vapor rate.

I believe with a 3 inch column is far too small. Also your condensers will have to keep up. You will need lots of surface area.

If you want email me your general plans of what you have and I will look at it for you and give you some great suggestions.

  4. Be sure to never put bleach on stainless!!! It will destroy the alloy that makes stainless not rust!

I personally would try micoabels or the nuclear last option is nitric acid. Be ultra careful!! It will remove any impurity a in or on stainless.

Another note: take a magnet with you when you buy your tank. Cheap stainless a magnet will stick to,and if it sticks to it it has less nickel and more steel it the metal and can or could rust easy.

    Good luck!

  5. Correct you only need to supply the name of the person or company if the TTB ask for it.

You just need to keep the info on file for you. Don't send anything in.

  6. Where are you located? And what type of whiskey are you looking for?

I make currently 350 a month but could make over 2500 gallons a month running full tilt.

    Thanks.

  7. I can tig copper and stainless. Use deoxigened copper wire, keep the heat on the stainless, and flood the work pieces with argon. Easy...... I have over 20 years of weld under my belt.

I will be glad to help anyone.
