  1. We were thinking about it, but turns out we don't really need it. We're really just running it as a pot still.
  2. I've got some new Sterlco 56-T Temperature Actuating Valves for sale. One was used twice and the other has never been used. These are what most still manufacturers use to control stills. Both are 140F - 240F adjustable temperature. Make me an offer. Retail these are over $300. I've got one that is 3/8" Pipe Thread and one that is 1/2" Pipe Thread.
  3. Just don't do caps with twist off by hand bottles. From what I've head Sierra Nevada stopped using them because they leak; very slowly but don't seal quite like just the regular cap.
  4. Thanks I appreciate it, your SS Still you posted the other day looks real nice.
  5. Most the other guys on ebay are selling for $12.75, mines almost $2 cheaper. As far as flaring you should be able to flare type L with your hands...that is if you are related to The Hulk. If not sorry.
  6. I'm selling some 6" Type L Copper Tubing. You can use it to make a column. Use the ebay link. If you need more than the 4 feet, email me and I will quote shipping. Thanks. Carter http://www.ebay.com/itm/200737403927?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_500wt_1202
  7. what size steam coil and how long? How long from the still will the boiler be?
  8. I've built lots and lots of stills. I have no doubt that if you're trying to steam heat with direct heating elements 1000 Liters or more that you will NOT save money. By the time you get it plumbed, buy the elements (which are very expensive), and run electrical you'll be out a ton of money. You can buy used steam boiler for not much money, just look around.
  9. Sure, do you want it air powered? Can the prop be installed once it's mounted in the pot, it's either that or a folding prop. If it's air powered what kind of compressor do you have? What size diameter prop?
  10. Is it possible to find water nearby that's not treated with chemicals, but filtered and decontaminated from a nearby lake or river?
  11. All I can say is wow. First off if you want some help here you probably should do us a favor and describe a little what you're looking for other than I need a still. You do know they range from a couple milliliters to hundreds of thousands of gallons and come in lots of configurations? Next, know what your talking about or ask, "hey what is that I need more information, and thanks for the lead". Most Christian Carl Stills ARE COPPER.
  12. Different flavored water = yes, city water with who knows what in it plus chemicals = no
  13. You never mentioned you were making whiskey...but that's besides the fact. What I do is filter my water and then add back in those minerals to create the exact water I'm looking for. So if I'm making Scotch I'll add back in those minerals and what not to make the water match that region. If you do a search you should be able to easily find, as I've done before, water reports of any specific region in the world.
  14. Let me put it to you this way why would you even consider risking hundred of thousands of dollar in lieu of $300-$500? Don't take the risk you never know what's in the water at that exact moment. Buy the dam filter. P.S. I live in San Francisco and we have excellent water...I mean really good and literally as I was responding to this article I took a sip from a glass I just got from the tap and it smells terrible today...case in point.
  15. Google is your friend. http://www.bardenay.com/. I heard it was hard to setup. There distillery has a glass wall separating it. So if they have division and you set it up as two different businesses with a glass wall it should be easy to setup. Just lots of money.
  16. I'm gonna say they are $85 each not including shipping. Just remember I make them by hand. If I get a lot of orders I'll drop the price. I'm not sure how much shipping will be but I can't image it'll be much. If you want just the polypropylene parts make it $80 as the tube needs no work done to it and only cost me $5. It's the plastic parts that take time to make. The plastic is alcohol resistant and is made from polypropylene and they have O-rings to seal them completely.
  17. it is 304 but can easily be 316 if necessary, which it's not. If you want it as a kit I'll sell it that way, just have to make sure you get the correct tubing and wall thickness. I'll come up with a price.
  18. I make stainless ones and could make a copper one, what length do you want? Here are my stainless ones. http://adiforums.com/index.php?showtopic=2079
  19. I've never heard that and there's no way in hell I would use zinc in something that I was going to drink. The whole point of stainless is that is doesn't rust. If your SS is not passivated, then passivate it. Run Birko Acid Bright #2, 1 oz per gallon of water, through your still for 30 minutes - DO NOT RINSE, then run Birko Cellar Master for 30 minutes at 120F, 1 oz. per gallon of water. Rinse with 140 degree water and Bingo your done and your still is passivated.
  20. I just checked out glaciertanks and can confirm their prices are pretty good, better than what I can get.
  21. I order from McMaster almost every week. As far as Tri-Clover stuff they DO NOT have the best prices on that sort of thing nor do they have a variety of Tri-Clover stuff, they have the most basic things. But on the whole McMaster carries everything else in the world and 80% of it is better priced than most other stores. You'll find the occasional pump or motor that's way more expensive but mostly it's pretty good pricing. P.S. McMaster has, BY FAR, the best navigation and search engine for finding parts than any other website in the world. It freakin' rocks. Plus there shipping and fulfillment is very quick. Internet wise the best place is St.Pats and their prices are decent. Locally, and I'm sure they'll ship, the most reasonable prices around here, especailly Tri-Clover gaskets (Viton and Silicon) is Stainless Solutions. Look at the bottom for a list of companies I've made a list of that carry Tri-Clover. Ebay has some great deals but most of the time my local guy is cheaper. http://www.stainlesssolutions.biz/ (Local to me and the one I use with the best prices.) http://www.peiequipment.com/ (Also local and has alright prices, but has lots of other things, such as hoses and can crimp them on to fittings.) http://www.csidesigns.com/index.php http://www.jmesanitary.com/Results.aspx?manufacturerid=100 (Expensive and very hard to navigate.) http://www.matrixps.com/ http://www.partsdeptonline.com/ http://www.johnernst.com/ http://www.stpats.com/index.htm http://www.wcbflowproducts.com/ http://www.csidesigns.com/alfalaval/fittings.php?gclid=CJ2PwY-M5aYCFQYLbAodIEkP2A http://stainlessaccessoriesplus.com/default.aspx http://www.pbstbeer.com/
