Latkasimka Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 We're looking at possibly opening a small cocktail bar next to our distillery. I'd love to hear from other folks in terms of what impact it has had on your financial picture (i.e. revenue/profit relative to your tasting room sales, etc). Of course there are a million variables that would impact results, but would just like a bit of anecdotal information if possible.
TylerPederson Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Here in Seattle, Sun Liquor is the only one I know of that operates a full bar/distillery concept. They might be a great source of info on the topic.
Packersfan1964 Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 We just opened 4 weeks ago, and have been selling cocktails, merch, and bottles out of our tasting room. It's going fairly well on the weekends - we usually have a dozen or so folks stop by and they all buy something, sign up for our email list, and spread the word. It's been a good jump start on sales and it allows us to find what consumers want.
bluestar Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 It has been great for us. We started out with just a tasting room with bottle sales, but the full cocktail bar (our own spirits only) has anchored us as a neighborhood institution, and is useful for tour-tastings. And our experience with the cocktails, creating them and getting feedback from customers, has been important in developing and marketing our spirits.
