  1. Hey Sam- Call Associated Hose Products down in Portland. www.ahphose.com and talk to Trevor. He's got some good things for that. He's been super helpful for me. Roy
  2. We had to submit a map to the state of Oregon listing churches and parks that were near our facility, I forget the distance. They were sent a letter by the state saying that we had submitted for a license, they were then given the chance to comment. we were advised by the state to be proactive and contact them on our own, prior to the letter going out. We did that, they had no problem and didn't make a response to the state's letter. I'd say that being proactive with the church might be a good thing. Roy
  3. How much did those run ya? Do you have a good source for them?
  4. Just curious if anyone out there is using a flow meter for keeping track of how much hot water they are using during a production batch. If so what are you using? I've been looking at these http://www.zorotools.com/g/00054689/k-G2049451?utm_source=google_shopping&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google_Shopping_Feed&kw={keyword}&gclid=CMenquiI-LwCFQJrfgodaDkA_Q but I need to find out if they can handle hot water. Roy
  5. Figured it out. You can't have 'pop ups' blocked to finish the process. The initial pop up that you get when you log in comes through easily but the final screen where you promise you are telling the truth doesn't. Had to allow pop ups to make it work.
  6. I've tried for three days now and I can't get a submission to go through. I've also not received a call back while using their messaging service. Anyone else having this happen? Jan 27 2014
  7. So this happened yesterday..... http://www.oregonlive.com/business/index.ssf/2014/01/hood_river_distillers_acquires.html Hood River Distillers Inc. will add Portland-based Clear Creek Distillery to its portfolio, as part of a deal announced Friday. As Oregon distilleries gain national prominence, the deal brings together one of the state's largest players with a craft distiller known for its unique spirits. Clear Creek Distillery distills fruit brandy and sells under its own label, and is behind others such as Oregon Brandy and McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt Whiskey. The craft distiller generated $2 million in revenue in 2013. Terms of its acquisition, which closes at the end of the month, were not disclosed. While the 28-year-old Clear Creek will continue to operate out of Northwest Portland, its leadership will change. Brad Whiting, a top Hood River Distilling employee, will take over as general manager. Steve McCarthy, who founded Clear Creek, will remain involved in the brand as adviser and spokesman. In a written statement, McCarthy said Clear Creek experienced steady growth and could reach its full potential with the help of Hood River Distillers. No layoffs are planned at Clear Creek as a result of the deal. The distiller employs nine people, who will join Hood River's 70 employees. Hood River Distillers, headquartered in the Columbia River Gorge city by the same name, does not disclose its sales figures. Its brands include Pendleton Whisky, 1910 Rye Whisky, Sinfire Cinnamon Whisky and HRD Vodka, among others.
  8. I haven't gone through any of this, I know a couple of people that have, and they had to get very political to make anything move with the TTB. And then in the end I don't think it moved enough. I'd think it be worth your time to pay Dave Dunbar to look at what you are talking about, he has experience in this and knows his stuff. PM if you don't have his information. ROy
  9. I have a couple of friends that work for Wyeast Labs and they have consulted before but usually on a very large scale. What's the experience of this 'engineer'?
  10. I don't know Indiana law and don't know if you are planning to have a tasting room and can have on-site sales, but I will throw this in there. I requested tasting room sales data from the state of Oregon (OLCC) for several distilleries and in 80% of them the number one selling skus ($ wise) were liqueurs. If you are in a control state request that information before hand and see if you can get it. I paid like 25$ for the processing here in OR. Good Luck Roy
  11. Tell us more about what your year of work looks like. Is this based on a 12 hour day, 8 hour day, full time, part time......everyone's 'year' is a bit different.
  12. http://lexvini.blogspot.com/2011/05/uspto-finds-wine-and-tequila-related.html it's not my personal experience but it is something I found a while ago when we were looking at branding and names.
  13. How much did salesforce want to charge? I work for a non profit that has SF and love it but I have never priced out the paid version.
  14. I have heard of it referred to as 'bubble glass' if you are looking for that High West bottle look.
  15. Thanks, Ross. We are looking at something that can handle our grain from Mash Tun to FV to the still. Lot's of solids
  16. We are currently looking for the solution of pumping our wash with solids to and from vessels. I just got off the horn with Dairy Engineering in Colorado and he suggested looking at a Watson Marlow SPX25 Hose Pump. I'm doing some research but wanted to check in here to see if others might suggest something different. Thanks! Roy
  17. If they are not water tight trenches what happens with the steam pipe when it is operating comes in contact with water as you are cleaning your floors or equipment? I'm no rocket surgeon but I think you would lose some performance there. Hot pipes coming in contact with cooler water seems less efficient.
  18. Ah come on you hosers! 77 views and not a single experience with a line of hose? I'm hoping that at least one of you says that the brewline is just not worth the money because the price difference is so large. Roy
  19. I would like to hear from those with some time under their belts what hoses they are using with a high level of satisfaction. Are you using Goodyear Brewline, Vintner, or something else? I've gotten a good price on some Novaflex 6506 hose, specs out to something like the GY Vintner but I haven't found anyone locally using it. Thanks! Roy

  21. The post about the grain mill had me thinking about augers. Anyone out there have positive or negative feedback on one? Where did you get it and what do you like or not like about yours? Thanks
