  1. Forsyth can't even take an order until mid 2014. They are booked up solid through 2013 and part of 2014. Not much to consider there.
  2. Talked to Mark today. You guys were right. Super helpful, knows his stuff and he did a very good job of talking to me about what the potential hang ups might be with venting to the side vs going up. Thanks again! Roy
  3. On that note- does anyone have experience with venting out the side vs straight up through the roof?
  4. Thanks, Everyone! We will be giving him a call Tuesday.
  5. Does anyone have anything to suggest for the proper burner size for a direct fire, 600 L Hoga? Thanks, Y'all Roy
  6. Thanks, Everyone. I have found Hall Woodford and received a quote within 12 hours of the request. So far that is the only source I have found that can do 400 gallons. I'll put in some more calls tomorrow. Roy
  7. Just curious if anyone is using wooden tanks and if so, where did you get them?
  8. Durability is the other issue for oil free pumps. I think you can figure that out in just how they are named and what oil typically does for moving parts. Now there are some great oil-less compressors out there, and some shotty oiled ones too. I'd pick one that is sold by a local distributor or at the very least one that can be serviced by a local group. It would stink to have your compressor go down with such a big responsibility in your distillery.
  9. oil free pumps make a lot more noise than an oil bath pump. That is something to consider if you are going to have it IN your space vs outside or in mechanical room.
  10. If you live in a control state you can find out all sorts of things if you ask for it. Sometimes there are request forms and sometimes you just get it by asking in an email. Hope that helps.
  11. Thanks,Sherman. We had always been working with a 10% number for a spirit run. Thanks for your answer and some clarification. Roy
  12. If we loaded the fermentation tank with 100g of liquid @ 8% what would you expect to get on your stripping run and what you would expect to collect on your spirit run(s). I know that there are some varying factors that could make this a better question but just looking for some ball park numbers for some crunching fun. Thanks! Donut

Give Jess or Greg a call @ Wyeast Labs - http://www.wyeastlab.com/ They are out of Parkdale, OR and are great folks.
  14. Folks, Does anyone have experience with a good functioning label machine for square-ish bottles? If so what brand? Thanks so much, Roy
  15. Kothe called this morning. I guess they read this forum after all. Thanks Robert!
  16. Bluestar- We are meeting with our inspector(s) next week. What sort of questions would you suggest we ask when talking about 3 phase. We are interested in the bain marie still and want to make sure that we don't miss anything. Thanks! Roy
  17. Kothe hasn't returned my phone calls (only 2) but I'm not looking for copper work from them right yet. I'm trying to find out some availability on those plastic FVs
  18. Thanks, Brad I've submitted a request for a tour tomorrow (thursday) on your website, think that's possible? Roy
  19. Thank you, folks. Those Kothe units are what I was seeing in the youtube video. I'd love to hear if anyone has experience with them or any other economical fermenters similar. Roy
  20. question for all that use or know of folks using plastic FVs Where can one inquire about these large capacity units that have the ability to be forked and have lids? I know that I've seen one in a youtube video but I can't find it and it's driving me crazy. Thanks for your response. Roy
  21. Having worked with the tribes and state agencies on projects (fisheries) I could not imagine how slow they would move on this. I get frustrated with tribal time a lot and that's on things that my life ($$) doesn't realy depend on. Good luck and keep us posted if you move forward with this.
  22. Hi Folks- I am looking for someone that has experience in using apples that have been pressed by a juice company to be used in the base for brandy and perhaps vodka (if achievable). What I can get my hands on is $25 for a 1,000 pounds with a moisture content of 12-15%. I can get them regularly, easily, and pay no shipping on them. So....if anyone has experience with using apple pulp please post up or IM me, I'd really like to hear from you.
  23. Just checking to see if anyone has heard from those guys in a while. I've tried to request some information recently using their website and I haven't heard from them. If I can cross them off my list let me know. donut
