  1. I ran my 2 stainless filters into the bottle tank and it all worked like charm! Thanks everyone for all your help! I decided to flush with RO and it seems to work great. I am still not sure about the filters i bought though. I will probably look for a better online source since I am in less of a hurry now. Thanks again!
  2. I have my stainless steel filter housings in series with all stainless NTP ins and outs. I have polypropylene 5 and .5 filters. Now what? Do i have to run water through to prep the filters? Any suggestions? I am filtering and bottling such small amounts to start (300L) per batch i dont want to mess anything up haha. Thanks everyone again!!
  3. Found everything in Canada in stainless! Hopefully the filters are fine in Polypropylene. The guy said when i switch from spirit i can ziplock the filter and put in the fridge to reuse. Anyone have experience with this? I mean they are only 10$ish each but i am doing like 50-100 gallon final bottling runs so i don't really want to toss a filter that could last 1000's of gallons you know?
  4. Next question. Other than the 5 and .5 micron filters so there a specific material the filter must be? I assume so but again i am a noob so any info would be great! Oh and does the 5 micro filter come before the .5 i assume?
  5. like this? https://www.lowes.ca/water-filtration/rainfresh-ess1-stainless-steel-10-in-water-filter-housing_g2398839.html In canada nothing is everywhere unfortunately =/
  6. This says Alcohol but who knows what that really means. This is the best i have found so far: https://pentairindustrial.com/industrial-filtration-solutions/liquid-cartridge-housings/52/high-temperature/ Is my moonshine going to taste like nylon?
  7. Any suggestions on where to buy the housing and filter? I was planning on using a flowjet for the pump. Sounds like a great idea!!
  8. Dumb question but is it possible to add an inline filter of some sort to a gravity fed Mori filler? Maybe pump into a filter that goes into a tank that feeds into bottling machine? Any cheap solutions would be wonderful!
  9. Looking for 10 Gallon new used barrels. Bourbon or rum preferably! PM me! Thanks,
  10. Anyone know if you can mount this pump upside down or sideways? Or should it be mounted hoses pointed down?

    Aging Rum

So it may be better to stick with a new smaller barrel or a used Bulleit Bourbon barrel from MGP? and finish it in the Captain Morgans barrel? My plan is not to age it more than 1-2 years to start.
  12. So around 80 it should hit its 5 gpm mark. Thx for the info!

    Aging Rum

Any thoughts on used rum barrels for primary aging? I am looking at some captain morgans dark rum barrels that were used a few times.
  14. Dumb question. What PSI should i be running the g70 pump safely? Says up to 100 psi but that sounds high. I currently have been using it around 50 psi but would love if it pumped faster =)
  15. I ran it today and the meter said i was getting 25 bang on amps. Boiled a full (to the brim) 26 gallon of water is about 1.5 hours. Didn't have any issues that i know of. I only have 1 element running.
  16. Thank you everyone for the info! I overnighted 2x 5500 watt 208v elements and tomorrow i will try again! Appreciate it again.
  17. I am trying to get my 26 Gallon Hillbilly Still going for some test batches while I wait for my boiler gets fired up and I am having a huge issue with my controller only able to function at 18.5 AMPs. It should be able to pull at least 24-26 amps. Currently when testing with water its taking me 2 hours at full throttle to bring up my mash to full temp. I am using water to test and it took 2 hours to not even boil water. Back story! I am in Ontario, Canada and am in an industrial building. I have 3 phase 200 amp service with 208 voltage. The controller calls for a 30 amp breaker and a dryer plug. I have a licensed electrician install it and he even double checked it was wired using 2 hot wires etc. I called around and everyone says I need to purchase a 30 amp step up transformer which is isolated to my 30 amp breaker to run my element at the correct amperage. I was also told that if i keep running my element on my current voltage i am starving the element and it will burn out fast. When quoted a step transformer CSA approved is upwards of 1000$. This is only for a test still which we planned on testing small batches with before going to the large productions. Any help quickly would be greatly appreciated! I have Rum fermenting and nothing to still it with =/
  18. Are these still availabe? pm me! Thx
  19. What type of hose should I buy for the flojet so I can transfer higher proof spirits?
  20. I am looking to buy a used simple pot still head for my 26 gallon Hillbilly Still. Something like this: https://www.hillbillystills.com/product/simple-pot-still-head-3-with-thermoport/ Would prefer 4" with a Leibeg condenser. PM me if you have one and want to sell it! Thanks,
  21. I am trying to figure out an inexpensive way to pump how water to and from our hot water holding tanks (to fill lauder tun and sparge etc). I know the water temps will be about 150-170 F in the hot water holding tanks and probably 180-190 F when heating up sparge water from the mash tun to the lauder tun. I currently have a 20 GPM Jabsco Flexible Impeller Pump for hot mash and i know its limits are 175 F MAX. Another reason i would like a pump that can handle hotter temps is when i need to pump hot backset from the still. I do not have a budget but am looking for some solutions that won't break the bank. Thanks in advance!
  22. Thanks for all the the info. Sounds like the Jabsco is a better pump.
  23. I am trying to decide on buying this pump to pump mash from my cooker to my fermenters. I can't find much on the this company or how good this pump is in terms of preference and maintenance costs. I was also looking at the Jabsco SQN 20 GPM Flexible Impeller Pump. I know it would pump a big slower but i have read decent reviews on this pump. The price difference is 200$ between the two. Any insight would be great! Thanks again.
