  2. I originally ordered cypress tanks, they were destroyed during shipping. Because of the long build/wait times I decided to just order stainless tanks instead of waiting for new ones. The company I was dealing with for the cypress tanks was great and I ended up having no trouble getting a full refund. That being said, when it came down to ordering bigger tanks for our expansion, I didn't even consider wood tanks. All of these things that we are discussing in regards to keeping the tanks clean, sealed and leakproof are something I don't have to worry about with stainless.
  3. I have 34 x 5 gallon unused medium char barrels still available, I would be able to throw all of the barrels and bottles on a pallet together and would cut you a good deal.
  4. We are discontinuing our rum to focus on whiskey and vodka production, I have 30 leftover cases of Nordic Bottles that we will not use. These are normally 14.83 a case for an entire pallet. Comes with T-tops and Shrink sleeves, we will unload these for $10 a case. Pickup or freight from 81435.
  5. All of the used barrels are sold, they got picked up by a brewery.

  7. We use this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0002SRM2O/ref=mp_s_a_1_26?qid=1432006849&sr=1-26π=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 Its a master appliance, its used in pretty much every ski shop across the US, which mine was just a local ski shop's extra that was gifted to me.
  8. We run a 132 gallon with 27kw of direct immersion elements. We only run low wines through this still, we use a different setup for stripping, which uses a bain marie styled heating system.
  9. Head over to Cotherman Distilling, its near st petersburg.
  10. Tanks are located in Telluride, CO 81435. With pallet wrapped up, these are just under 150lbs a piece.
  11. I have 7 extra NEW ISC Char 4 Barrels available, buyers sets up freight from 81435, I will palletize them, PM for price.
  12. I have 3 x 1000 Liter VC tanks for sale. They are in excellent condition and are great for a start up. They come with one port with a butterfly valve. I had them in use for just over a year and just purchased 3 more tanks at double the capacity. They go for $1250 a piece on the vintner vault, I would like $2750 for all 3. You can purchase racking arms for these from several places for about $50+ a piece. My price is $1000 off of what you would pay for all 3. Buyer sets up and pays shipping from 81435, I would think that are probably $150 to $250 a piece for freight, I will palletize them for you.
  13. Dye sublimation is a heat transfer style of printing, theyve been able to do it on glass no problem, the one thing they can't do however is print white, we used sublimation printing at a ski manufacturer i worked at, i wasnt sure if anyone had tried using it, which is why i asked
  14. Looking at doing something to my bottles besides sticker styled labels and originally had thought about getting them screen printed. When I got my quote to screen print the bottles it was expensive enough to look into doing it all in house. Semi automated would be preferred, but before I go the printing route I figured I should look into other options and was wondering if anyone has gone the engraving route. Engraving would surely take more time than screen printing, and on a scale of thousands of bottles would be the problem I foresee. Any info about sublimation? Does anyone else screen print their own bottles? What machine are you using?
  15. I second st pats, the tanks that I have order from them are fantastic. I think a lot of the bad rap they get is due to them preferring email over phone conversations, which in all honesty I prefer as well.
  16. I got my drawings from the owners of our building and I simply drew right on them. TTB had no problem of this, I also submitted the unaltered drawings of the building for them to cross reference which they said they appreciated.
  17. I think it all depends who you get as your COLA specialist. I put in for a Malt Whiskey as "Whiskey - Distilled from 100% Malted Barley" I was required to get a formula because it did not directly say Malt Whiskey. As they view it, it is a Whiskey of no distinct type, which requires a formula. I could see another specialist passing it through, but it didn't matter to me as I still have a bit of time for this to age, so I just put in for the formula.
  18. I had to clarify to the TTB Specialist and even take pictures that I had a separate entrance to the bonded area from outside, the other entrance would have been through the tasting room, which was insufficient. I would just find another location, theres bound to be problems with the basement of a hotel, along with the hassle of getting equipment and pallets of your raw goods, etc.
  19. Have you figured out how you will dispose of your stillage after you have removed the alcohol? Seems like that could be quite the process. This is the reason why we lauter, I can throw the grains into trash cans and a farmer picks them up. I would also like to know how you plan on chilling the mash with grain in, it would have to be more of an inline chiller that ASD had shown. A plate chiller would clog, a jacketed fermenter might work to chill, but i would be concerned that it might take too long and the fact that you are grain in could definitely throw it through a bacterial infection, I've found even good lacto beers don't make a great whiskey, you don't get that nice barley flavor that you're looking for. The ideas of distilling a sour beer sounds like a great idea, I've made some incredible sour beer aged on ex whiskey oak before that is phenomenal, and yes when distilled it is a terrible whiskey. Have you done any smaller batches through your test still? Thats where I would start...
